That is everything the document states clearly. What it leaves unclear matters more: series length for each stage (BO1, BO3 or BO5), per-region qualification paths, and — what I consider the most consequential point — whether the drop-down to Open Playoffs applies to partner teams too.

Analysis: eight plus four, and the number twelve never grows

This is where you read closely rather than skim. Each region gets 12 Kickoff slots. Eight of those belong to partner teams, four come from Open Qualifiers. From Kickoff, the top three teams per region advance to Masters 1. If the circuit still runs four regions as in recent seasons, three slots times four regions gives 12 teams at Masters — exactly the size of the international events VCT has maintained for several years.

That is a significant centralisation step, and it has a cost in the independence of community organisers.

One more point: the document says plainly that the 2027 structure is 'similar to 2026, but with added online Open Qualifiers before each stage', and that VCT Cups operate 'similarly to 2026 regional leagues, but in a shorter format'. So when someone tells you this is a total transformation, remember: the 2026 skeleton is still intact. What is new is an open-entry layer bolted on top, plus a money package.

Contrarian angle: the risk is not where the cameras are

I have followed VALORANT long enough to know one thing: the matches that decide the fate of the whole system are often the least watched.
